Services/Highlift Conversion

Reclaim Your
Ceiling.

Custom highlift conversions for shop lifts, lifted trucks, RVs, and overhead storage. Engineered for your door, your ceiling, and the toys you actually own.

Why Homeowners Convert

Built for the Way You Use the Garage

Standard garage doors waste 12"–18" of ceiling space. Highlift gets it back — for lifts, racks, lighting, or just a cleaner ceiling.

Shop Lifts & 4-Post Lifts

The #1 reason for highlift in SW Florida. Lift a truck, SUV, or boat trailer high enough to walk under — and still close the garage door over it.

  • 2-post & 4-post lift clearance
  • Truck-on-lift configurations
  • Workshop & detail bay setups
  • Engineered to lift height
Tall Vehicles & RVs

Lifted trucks, full-size SUVs, vans, and small RVs that scrape standard openings. We open up the ceiling so they fit.

  • Lifted trucks & Jeeps
  • Sprinter & cargo vans
  • Class-B small RVs
  • Roof racks & rooftop tents
Overhead Storage & Racks

Reclaim ceiling space for storage racks, kayaks, ladders, and seasonal gear without giving up your garage door.

  • Heavy-duty storage racks
  • Kayak & paddleboard hoists
  • Bike & ladder lifts
  • Holiday decor storage
Workshop & Hobby Space

Hang lighting, ceiling fans, ductwork, or run a clean shop ceiling without the door track in the way.

  • Workshop lighting upgrades
  • Mini-split & A/C clearance
  • Pegboard & tool walls
  • Clean ceiling aesthetics
Two Conversion Paths

Pick the Lift That Fits

We measure your garage on-site and quote both options when both make sense — so you can pick the right balance of clearance and budget.

Standard Highlift
Most Common

Vertical track extends 24"–48" above the door before the horizontal radius. Best balance of clearance and cost.

  • 24" – 48" of added lift
  • Clears most 4-post lifts
  • Standard torsion shaft
  • 1–2 day install
Full Vertical Lift
Maximum Clearance

Door travels straight up with minimal horizontal track — maximum ceiling height for tall vehicles and high lifts.

  • Up to ceiling-height lift
  • Best for lifted trucks & RVs
  • Custom-engineered tracks
  • Heavy-duty spring system
Before You Convert

What Your Garage Needs

Ceiling Height

You need at least 18"–24" of clear space above the door opening for a standard highlift, more for full vertical.

Headroom & Obstructions

Light fixtures, ductwork, or beams in the path? We'll measure and design around them — or recommend relocating them.

Door Condition

Best paired with a new or recent door. We'll inspect existing panels and hardware for compatibility before quoting.

Heavier Spring System

Higher lift = longer spring travel = upgraded torsion springs. Always part of the quote — never an upsell surprise.

Wall-Mount Opener

Highlift doors usually pair with a jackshaft (wall-mount) opener since the ceiling rail goes away. Included in most quotes.

Permits & Code

Some SW Florida jurisdictions require a permit. We pull it and handle inspection so you don't have to.

Common Questions

Highlift Conversion FAQ

What does a highlift conversion cost?+
Most residential standard-highlift conversions in SW Florida run $1,400–$2,800 installed. That includes new tracks, heavy-duty springs, drums, cables, hardware, and a wall-mount jackshaft opener. Full vertical-lift conversions and tall-ceiling jobs run higher. Every quote is written before any work begins.
How much ceiling height do I actually need?+
For a standard highlift, you need at least 18"–24" of clear space between the top of the door opening and the lowest ceiling obstruction. For full vertical lift, you need clearance roughly equal to the height of the door itself. We measure on-site and tell you exactly what's possible.
Can I do this with my existing garage door?+
Often, yes — if the door is in good shape and uses a standard residential panel system. We'll inspect the panels, hinges, and bottom bracket for compatibility. Older or damaged doors may need replacement first to safely handle the new spring tension.
Do I need a new opener?+
Almost always. Standard ceiling-rail openers don't work with highlift because the rail would have nowhere to go. We swap to a LiftMaster or similar wall-mount jackshaft opener that mounts on the wall beside the door — quieter, cleaner, and frees up your ceiling completely.
How long does the install take?+
Standard highlift conversions take 1 day for most residential garages. Full vertical lifts, multi-door jobs, or installs requiring permits and inspection can stretch to 2 days. We let you know the timeline before you sign anything.
Will this affect my hurricane rating?+
No, as long as we use compatible reinforcement bars and a wind-load-rated bottom bracket. We always preserve or upgrade the door's original wind-load rating during a highlift conversion — and document it for insurance.
